Cork Flooring was used quite a bit years ago but kinda fizzled out in the early 70s mostly for the fact that it only came unfinished and had to be either oiled or waxed every year and cleaning it left white spots from the use of all the waxing. That kinda maintenance wasn’t appealing to the average homeowner.
But in the last several years we have seen cork making a strong comeback as today’s cork flooring is virtually maintenance free as it is now coated with a durable finish. Cork has many, many great qualifications, it is very soft and very quiet underfoot great for kitchens where standing in front of a sink for long times is common. Shock absorption is another quality as cork has a tendency to rebound or heal itself if something is dropped on it.
