Topic: Furniture dents on Walnut made floors

I took a sample of hardwood floors that I am interested in putting throughout my condo. I rolled a bar cart on it to see what kind of damage it will make. I discovered that it made the same kind of damage like my cherry hardwood floors. It caused an indentation to the floort. This is a problem that do not want to experience again. I want a wood that will not make this kind of dent.

That can happen to any wood species depending on the shape of the casters and the weight of the object being rolled over the wood flooring.

Instead of sacrificing the beauty of real wood flooring for another type of floor covering like Vinyl luxury tile or laminate flooring that may not indent that easily. I would recommend seeing if you can replace the existing casters with wider one inch wide soft rubber casters that will not mar or cause indentations in the wood.

Some of the Wood species that have a softer cell structure and are more prone to indentations are- Walnut, Pine, American Cherry, Birch. Remember that most all wood species can indent a scratch if something heavy and sharp is rolled or dragged over it.
