Topic: What flooring to use?

Request: Suggestions for a durable engineered floating flooring material (other than tile).

We will be installing over a slab foundation. My husband is confident installing floating floors. We have two kids and two small dogs. One dog is a senior citizen and occasionally has accidents. We're pretty active, so we need something durable and suitable for a lot of traffic. We're open to various flooring options. My concern with wood/bamboo is swelling if we don't get moisture up quickly enough. Other than that, a distressed wood/bamboo flooring is okay if new scratches/marks will blend with the floors or if we can touch them up. The new flooring will butt up against existing tile, and we will have a long transition from the family room to the kitchen.

Thanks so much!

Hi Elizabeth

All wood flooring can be scratched and worn. But they will last anywhere from 80-100 years before having to be replaced. Simple Floor care is essential with any type of floor covering.

Kahrs click lock floating floors are easy to install and have a thick wear layer allowing it later on (years) to be sanded and refinished if it ever had to be.

Baltic hardwood flooring is another great manufacturer.

White Mountain Hardwood Flooring is also value packed with floating floors again that have a thick wear layer.

We do have many others shown here with varying wear layer thicknesses.
